189An appropriate response: Wow, these people seem kind of extreme. Are they just a cult of raving, lunatic hippies, or is it possible that I’m missing something here? After all, I’ve never looked into any of this. Maybe I should Google some stuff to see…

The HPV vaccine is a series of shots that protect against the types of human papillomavirus (HPV) that cause most cases of cervical cancer and genital warts. But a recent study reports that not all girls and young women who start the series get all three injections. In order to be protected, you gotta get all the shots. Click here to learn more about the HPV vaccine.
The comments on this were so inane, I had to just reblog from the source. The HPV vaccine can prevent you from getting cervical cancer. Go ahead and Google “cervical cancer” details and pictures to see if that’s something you want to risk. I’ll wait.
The risks of this vaccine are not really higher than that of any other preventative vaccine or medication. With every single medication/treatment out there, there are risks. There’s always someone who’s going to get some weird 1-in-a-million response, and you can’t live your life based around that. You don’t burry yourself in a bunker every time there’s a chance of lightning. You don’t refuse to get in a car because of the risk of a crash (which is higher than your chances of having a reaction to the HPV vaccine, btw). It’s your choice: avoid the shots for the 1-in-a-million chance of having a critical reaction to it or get the shots to prevent the disease that currently 80% of American women will contract by the age of 50. ^ couldn’t have said it better myself
I am so glad I got all three :)^ exactly. With my family history, I decided to get it as soon as I could. The only side effect I had was that my arm hurt worse after than with other vaccinations. But I’d rather cut down my risk of getting cervical cancer and take the risk (which is the same as any other injection really) in all honesty.
Risa said it best, but I also think a lot of people who get the HPV vaccine are turned off due to the SHEER PAIN of the first vaccine. It hurt more than any other shot I’ve ever been given. I screamed and cried so much, the nurse apologized to me(I later apologized to her for freaking her out, lol). The second and third one are far less painful and the cycle is completely worth it. You owe it to yourself to protect yourself from HPV and cancers associated with the disease.
My shots only felt like normal shots I don’t remember any bad bruising pain after. And I didn’t get sick at all.
Fuck that. Every girl, and I mean EVERY SINGLE GIRL I’ve ever known to get the shots has ended up with HPV. So no. Fuck that.

The Superior Human?
“The Superior Human?” is the first documentary to systematically challenge the common human belief that humans are superior to other life forms. The documentary reveals the absurdity of this belief while exploding human bias.
This is amazing.
